What is the Effect of the Whitening Process on Teeth?

This process does not cause any abrasion on the surface of the tooth. No layer is removed from its surface of it. Whitening is done with special agents applied to the tooth surface. How Long Does the Teeth Whitening Process Take?

Whitening can be done in the same session or the next session. It takes an average of 1 hour. Home bleaching may be required after in-clinic bleaching. In such cases, the process takes several weeks.

Can Teeth Whitening Be Done at Home?

Home bleaching is done with gels with low Hydrogen Peroxide content placed in plaques made by the physician. It is applied at certain times for 3-4 weeks.

Is Whitening a Painful Procedure?

It is normal to feel very little sensitivity during the whitening process. However, some patients may have pain that will go away with painkillers for a few hours afterward.

How Long Does the Whiteness Last?

After the treatment, you will need to stay away from certain foods and beverages. It is very important for the success of whitening that you do not consume cigarettes, coffee, tea, alcohol and beverages, and foods that your doctor will specify for a short time.
Your whiter tooth color after whitening will begin to return to its original color after a certain period, depending on your oral care and diet. This period varies between 12-18 months. The whitening process can be repeated a few times according to your doctor’s advice.

Situations Where Teeth Whitening Will Not Work

Teeth with veneer or filling and teeth with congenital enamel defects do not whiten. The whitening protocol for discolored teeth caused by root canal treatment is different. Whitening is not permanent and possible without removing the causative agent.
